As part of our Disney Magic Eastern Caribbean Cruise, we did the Disney VIP Character Breakfast on our 2nd day of sea on Disney Magic. We took pictures with Chip, Dale, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto! Paula also made me Princess Leia buns and Miki made a Peter Pan hat out of cloth napkins! The breakfast was also be best breakfast we had during the whole cruise, except the pancakes were very dry and thick, as we had been mostly eating breakfast at the buffet.

I really enjoyed character breakfast and it’s free so I definitely recommend doing it on your next cruise if you like seeing and interacting with characters. The hardest part is having to wake up early on a sea day. I think it’s usually held at 8 am.

Character breakfast is only offered on sailings 7 days or longer with 2 or more sea days. They are held the morning of certain sea days only and require advance reservation. You can make a reservation for character breakfast when your reservation booking window opens, at the same time you can book shore excursions. Though some times additional reservations are accepted when you get onboard, I highly recommend reserving online prior to your cruise to ensure you do not miss out. As of December 2018, Disney currently offers 2 different character breakfasts:

  • VIP Character Breakfast – Featuring Mickey & Friends
  • Disney Junior Character Breakfast – Featuring Disney Junior characters, such as Doc McStuffins, Jake (from “Jake and the Neverland Pirates), Sofia from “Sofia the First”

Generally, a sailing will offer one or the other; not both character breakfasts. Exact characters cannot be guaranteed. Character breakfast is complimentary and is open to adults and kids; NOT to be confused with the Royal Tea Party, which is an extra fee and only open to kids and adults who accompany them.
